How to calm an irritated bowel?

The nervous situation with coronavirus has led many not only to a deterioration in their financial condition, but also to a deterioration in well-being, to an exacerbation of many chronic diseases, because stress affects our health in the most serious way.

Common manifestations of stress include irritable bowel syndrome. Experiencing its symptoms, many do not even suspect that you can significantly ease your life and not worry that the intestines will fail again.

How is IBS manifested? If you experience a constant feeling of discomfort in the abdomen, pain or cramping, you are worried about constipation, then diarrhea, stomach swelling, flatulence, you have difficulty going to the toilet, you experience a chronic feeling of fatigue, then yes, these are the most common symptoms of IBS . Most often, the problem occurs between the ages of 20 and 50, in women it occurs more often than in men, it manifests itself especially during menstruation.

Causes of IBS

It is generally accepted that stress is the main cause of irritable bowel syndrome. Often, patients say: just get nervous, problems with the intestines begin.

The second common cause is malnutrition. The list of products that provoke IBS is known to everyone – usually their doctors do not recommend using:

  • fatty foods, but not important, of plant or animal origin;
  • alcoholic drinks;
  • caffeine (and not only in coffee, but also in tea, cocoa, Coca-Cola);
  • sweet drinks, especially with artificial sweeteners.

Another thing is surprising: it would seem that the most useful in a healthy diet – vegetables that are recommended by nutritionists can be a big problem for a person with IBS. The same legumes containing valuable protein, or cabbage – a source of fiber in its pure form – will cause increased gas formation and provoke a sharp exacerbation of symptoms of IBS. Many dairy products will repeat the same effect.
